Minneapolis City Council will vote on whether to formally oppose the state's controversial "marriage amendment" proposal, which would recognize a marriage as only between a man and a woman.

Wednesday, crews started moving snow onto the course that'll be used for the City of Lakes Loppet.

It runs through Wirth Park, over Lake of the Isles and ends in Uptown.

They'll need volunteers over the next 10 days to help move snow onto the course. Some will be shoveled off lakes and some will be man made.

The Loppet is Feb. 4 and 5.
